Hi, so I have a pretty weird thing when it comes to reading various proofs. I understand steps and conclusions but I wonder whether you are supposed to understand them intuitively after reading. I mean achieving this feeling when you know it's true rather than relying on proof.

It depends on the proof, but usually it isn't intuitive unless you can find and thoroughly understand some real-world application of it. We're at the mercy of current mathematical paradigms/notation. In other words, try looking at it from a different angle. But sometimes shit is just unintuitive and you have to rely on pure logic

I guess it depends on the theorem. However, I suggest you try to prove things yourself before reading the proof.
When you are tasked to prove something which is not obvious algebraically or whatever you are forced to use your intuition then "translate" your intuition to a rigorous proof.

I realized this when I tried proving the Mean Value Theorem for Integrals (pic rel) which I had just seen at the time.
The book specifically wrote:
(a) Draw a picture to see why this theorem is plausible, in fact "obvious".
(b) Prove it (define a function cleverly, etc.).

Give it a try, maybe you'll understand what I'm trying to say.

Op here, Mostly it feels like: "I can't believe that those are all the possibilities". And then it turns out, that author didn't answer hundreds of what ifs. I sometimes feel retartlded because I don't know what to do with my brain during reading proof.
