Anyways, I got to wondering which would be a better way for humanity to survive extinction level floods on Earth? I figured it'd either be living in a giant space station while remaining close to Earth for resupplies, or massive floating cities that would rise and fall with the tides of the ocean.
Then I got to thinking about space elevators and a thought popped into my head.
What would happen if the elevator became detached or the station became detached?
What would the math look like on that. What would be the speed of the station?
