I recently had a discussion about the difference between brown eyes and hazel eyes but we did not reach any conclusions.

In the debate my opponent argued that hazel color is like brown and therefore hazel eyes are brown

On the other hand, I argued that the color of hazel eyes are not that color literally but that it was related to the color GREEN and LIGHT BROWN. This means that for me hazel eyes are bicolor, around the pupil brown and as it moves away from the center it becomes more green

What do you think? Are hazel eyes real or are they just brown eyes?
