On earth things can readily achieve supersonic speeds and those that don’t can still reach non-trivial proportions of speed of sound in air. Only in space with celestial bodies will you find speed differences anywhere near even a fraction of the speed of light such that the effect is observable

Dark matter. The evidence for it is literally that it needs to exist for our current model of the universe to work. I don't have even close to the knowledge to dispute it seriously and it might be found in the future, but it irks me to no end that it's presented to the general public as a well established part of science.

Dark matter is nothing but a place holder for an incomplete theory. I did not know the cosmological principle was actually under attack until now, so thanks for that! Nonetheless, my points stand. How do you explain consistent measurements of redshift in relation to distance and change of CMB temperature in accordance to a Hubble constant of about 70 (km/s)/Mpc if not metric expansion? How would a lack of homogeneity or isotropy lead to a different conclusion?

Black holes you won’t get rid of though. The evidence is simply too overwhelming to make any reasonable point against their existence. Now their nature is a different topic and linked to the first point. We simply have no understanding of quantum gravity and the singularities are most likely an artifact resulting from that.

Your 2nd point is reasonable but doesn’t explain temperature shift. Additionally, You would have to explain the structure of the universe which aligns perfectly with quantum oscillations, redshift in gravitational waves, the existence of the CMB in the first place and the fact that distant galaxies are younger (eg less metals). Proposing an expanding universe solves all that and even caused some of those to be measured to test its predictions.

When I was young I thought it was just the uneducated that thought this way but even in academia the practice is rife. I wish I had the funds to create a tertiary institution.

I have some issues with some theories in different fields, but the ones that seem to have more problems are the (((social))) sciences. They are literally far from rigorous, and the only thing they do is basically to promote humanities garbage mask as science.
