>>13912725Your personal distaste for solar or your feelings about land use doesn't matter, economics matter and unless the cost per kWh of renewables rises beyond the cost of fusion, there is no reason to attempt to build a nuclear plant. Energy use isn't truly exponential and the global population is starting to drop off outside of Africa. There is plenty of land on Earth for solar and even more space in the ocean, it won't run out in your lifetime.

They need to retain as much tritium as possible, if even a small amount of unburned tritium is not recovered and re-injected, a regenerative surplus won't be enough and they're going to have to add more from an external source. Yet another problem with fusion that gets swept under the rug by pop-sci.
