People on this board doesn't hate pop-sci because it's low quality or oversimplified. They hate it because they've created an image of themselves as an elitist because of their above average understanding of science. When normal people are participating in scientific discourse by consuming pop-sci content this self image is threatened and thus causes a hostile reaction.
