I never really enjoyed math in high-school but I did have somewhat of a knack for it, and I do like to program computers. I never learned calculous but did study algebra. I remember very little of it though.

If I wanted to teach myself calculous, realistically, how much memorization would be involved? Would I have to go back and re-learn algebra, and memorize all of the different theorems? How much of ones ability to solve complex math problems comes from pure memorization of rule sets? Does it more-or-less require an intense mixture of crystalline and fluid intelligence?

AFK for a minute but I'll be back later to read replies.
