I posted this elsewhere but it got shelved with one reply. Thought /sci/ would like it.
I'm a bit of an odd breed of a person.
I was born very talented in the sciences. From a young age I always loved math, building things, electronics and generally just everything sciency.
I was also athletic. I played several different sports throughout my youth and was generally just outside a lot. I fixed houses with my dad and often spent summers at camp or just out in the wilderness canoeing or fishing or doing whatever.
I have gone months at a time where I did nothing but code and play videogames in a dark basement and nothing except be on the road playing badminton for months at a time.
I have also done both interchangeably, and had the ability to notice patterns in behaviour.
Just how much "being smart" revolves around the right chemicals floating around in your head designed to reward you for being a healthy human may shock you.
Here is what I've come to learn about "motivation", "productivity" and generally just "getting things done", read below:
