Yes. The moon has about 1/6th gravitational pull of the Earth. And it's a small lander, about 16,000 kg. Or 2,600kg on the moon.

Actually it only had to reach lunar orbit and then couple with the much bigger orbiter. It likely reached a suborbital trajectory enough for interception. So it just needed a fraction of escape velocity, quite low already.
