you're ignorant of the conventional scientific wisdom about the upper atmosphere. its hot up there.
the top of the troposphere is cold and the stratosphere is cold, above that it gets progressively warmer

It's not friction, it's as >>13898186 says, the air can't get out of the vehicle's way fast enough, creating shockwaves and a very high pressure as a result. It's an entirely different phenomena than friction
