So females that produced more males were more likely to have their genes passed on, which in turned produced more males. Basically the bias was there to try and compensate for the higher rate of death in males when they grow older.
But what you are seeing now as the world gets safer and safer is males outnumbering females, especially below 55, which is partly why there are so many incels as there is now not enough females to pair of every male.
