>>13895206Pro poker player here. I play 200z-500z at pokerstars and made 160k this year so far. Poker math is very basic and intuitive, knowing math won't help. First, you need to memorize preflop ranges. You start with opening ranges from each position: EP, HJ, CO, BTN, SB and then you memorize 3bet ranges from each position against each position: MPvsEP, COvsEP, BTNvsEP, BTNvsHJ, BTNVSCO etc. etc. Then you memorize 4bet and 5bet ranges in a similar fashion. Postflop, you need to learn general GTO strategy and use simplifications. I think the best way is to hire a coach in the beginning. Find a coach who plays high stakes online. They usually charge 100$ - 250$ an hour. Also you need to have a good computer and a GTO solver. I use piosolver, but there are other options too. Also, there are online browser GTO solvers available now. They use presolved solutions and quite handy to get quick solutions. I truly believe that any midwit, if he works hard, can reach mid stakes in one year and make 50k-60k. Besides GTO strategy the most important thing is the mental aspect. You need to have ability to intensely focus for 5-6 hours and play your A game, despite bad beats and variance. Mental toughness is the key, without it you have no chance in the poker world.
