As for flying cars, they do have them. Well, they're more like small airplanes with folding wings, but you can get one if you're rich enough.
Genes are tricky. The model isn't even completely correct, because even though the genome was cracked decades ago, we still haven't sorted out that pesky epigenetics. Turns out DNA is like a REALLY badly fragmented hard drive, and we don't have anything resembling a UI.
