The idea of death is different than actually dying, and yet human beings refrain from, say, jumping off cliffs, because they know what WOULD happen if they did it. However, if you did jump, your cells and genetic code wouldn't really give a shit about the difference between you having your feet on the ground, and you free-falling towards a quickly-approaching ground. So what gives, why is even the IDEA of death, and sequences of non-fatal actions that would result in death, so strongly avoided by human minds? It can't just be DNA at that level too, right?
