What do you think climate models have been projecting into? No shit it's by the end of the century. Ozone's effects on carbon sinks haven't been taken into account and has already lead to avoiding enough warming that would push global temperatures past tipping points in the near future.

It's not "the ozone's effect on carbon sinks", it's "how much carbon would sunburns to plants cause over the next 80 years if we had done something different 20 years ago". Get it?

This study says that we've avoided 0,5 or 1 degree of warming compared to a scenario without control on ozone-depleting substances.
Are the climate projections based on that scenario, or on the actual reality ?

Now that this turned into a /sci/ meta thread, I'd like your attention to run an idea with you all.

Instead of filling a CAPTCHA, /sci/ posters upload their diploma or a certificate of attendance to an institution of higher learning and the site uses image recognition to clear their posts. Only scientists or soon-to-be scientists allowed. Is this doable, scientifically speaking?
