Is there more effective simple forms of math out there?

This video got me wondering about obscure ways of solving math problems. I had a professor once mention a student who claimed to meticulously graph out problem and weight the cut out paper, what would the accuracy be even on weighted stock and assuming the pen ink isn't of the cut?

Do you guys have any information on weird solutions?
