I've watched an epidemiologist lecture (pre covid era), and in his oppinion hiv long latency phase and near 100% mortality made it so dangerous, but also not that easy to transmit/infect. I wonder if those properties are mutually-exclusive. You can't have 3 at once - transmissible, deadly, long nonsymptomatic infectious phase
easy to transmitt/infect and deadly => must be highly symptomatic and kills host fast
long latent phase and deadly => hard to transmitt
long latent phase, highly transmissible => not deadly
