Wooly thinking in the sciences in the humanities

Does anyone else feel like there is so much confused/vague/obscure thought, particularly towards the logical structure of a researcher's argument?
This is far more pronounced when reading humanities papers when half the time I scratch my head and wonder what the hell does the last five pages have to do with supporting your conclusion.
Do you think it would be more beneficial for undergraduates to be required to take a basic formal logic course and then taught how to write a paper based off of those principles i.e. your paper should have premises and a conclusion, and most of your paper will be spent justifying your premises.
Right now, again particularly in the humanities, it often feels like the author is just writing to write, without actually thinking about the relevance of their writing to the broader structure of their paper, and it makes question my own intelligence.
