The eye lense does not have any cells in it, the lense is sort of like a gelly bag of protein suspension in water, over time those proteins degrade in a way normal proteis do , but since the lense has no cells nothing recycles those proteins, you get malformed proteins clumping together causing the lense to fog, fortunatley artificial lenses arent exactly artificial hearts
