What actually is "creep strain"? Like specifically is it the change in length divided by original length (like any other time you talk about strain) or is it just the total increase in length?
I've heard people use it to mean both.
My textbook has the formula of creep rate as creep strain / time, and according to google the units are usually distance/time so I'm assuming it the latter.
But if this is the case, why is it called strain and why do they use exactly the same symbol to represent a length as they do to represent a ratio in the rest of engineering/material science?
