He founded SpaceX, and made that work.
He founded Tesla, and made that work.
He semi-co-founded PayPal, and made that work.
He founded Neuralink, and it remains to be seen if that'll work.
He founded the Boring company, and made that work.
And you could make the case for these being business strategies, not engineering or science, but none of these companies could be made or run by business people or by your average engineer.
Business people are retarded and don't have a clue of how things actually work. Engineers hate each other, and get prissy and bothered by irrelevant minutiae when working together. Actually doing all of these things, managing to turn these dreams into reality is not a engineering marvel per se, but it requires an engineer to actually make decisions.
When you have suits running the company, every decision requires engineers to write reports, dumbing down the actual physics into toddler language, and if it makes the suits feel good, they follow up with decisions based on piss poor intuition. Bullshit artists thrive in systems like that.
Elon has objectively good sense as an engineer, and has a strong scientific foundation, 'm not asking you to trust me on this. Every other CEO exclusively speaks in marketing buzz words, all Elon ever does is talk about is physics, if you just listen to the man.
Companies are a top-down structure, and by that marker, Elon is the greatest engineer ever to live. He didn't create any of the breakthrough discoveries, but he created the system that created the breakthroughs.
