Arguments, from a big-brain gigachad.
Argument 1:
>Research and scientific progress is what is necessary to solve environmental and resource scarcity problems.
>The ammount of reasearch and advancement we can accomplish, increases as a function of the ammount of energy we put into it, and the ammount we currently have going.
>This means that the more energy we put into science, which will always be as proxy of the energy we use for society and commerce, the more efficient scientific research becomes, and the faster we solve our problems, avoiding unnecessary deaths and suffering.

Argument 2:
>consumption of energy drives innovation in production.
>innovation in production leads to cheaper energy.
>cheaper energy leads to more efficient and viable research.

Argument 3:
>the more resources become scarce, the higher their prices go.
>the more their prices increase, the more drive there is for innovation.
>the scarcer a resources is, the higher the sense of urgency to fix the problem of scarcity, and the more energy will be given to that pursuit, both through the public and commercial sector.

Conclusion: it is our duty to consume as much energy as possible.
