-Stevie Wonder releases 5 masterpieces in a row, from Music of my Mind 1972 to Songs in the Key of Life 1976, never releases a great album again afterwards
-the same happened to Joni Mitchell, everything she released from Blue 1971 to Hejira in 1976 was great, after that it's as if she had lost a lot of her talent suddenly
You could see that also in more recent artists from the 90s, the alternative rock musicians that were in their prime in the period of 1991-1997 have mostly not released anything great after the year 2000, like Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins.
Many of these people have a period of great productivity that lasts 5-7 years in their 20s, and after that the quality of their songwriting drops dramatically.
The exception tends to be the most educated ones, like Trent Reznor, because for them it isn't just natural talent, there is a lot of study and work in what they do, which gives them a better creative longevity.
