Start reading immediately Walpole's book probability and statistics (I assume that would be easy cake for you because of your background). Also, start asap learning C++ upto Object Oriented Programming paradigm then switch to Python as well when you can implement objects in C++. On this, you will find useful resources on the Tim Buchalkas course and there are a couple of good ones about Python that have "OOP" in their titles. Once you got that, then you could start thinking your "path" in the Big Tech. If you feel Machine Learning is the one, then learn TensorFlow.
Anyway, I hope you find your way, and a job. Personally, I love mathematicians and physicists. You grasp complex ideas within seconds and craft excellent and useful models.
