It might seem backwards, but science having the philosophy that it could be wrong makes it a lot more likely to be right. Pseudoscience crackpots love to accuse science of dogmatically clinging to cherished beliefs, but that's the opposite of how it works and how you can have confidence in scientific accuracy.
