Are online certificate programs worth anything? I mean, how valuable would a certificate such as this one be in the working world?

Is every employer just going to ask me why I don't have a university degree in mechanical engineering before telling me to leave the property? Obviously I would have to combine this certificate with other certificates as it would have limited worth all on it's own. I want to prepare for a job that doesn't exist yet: Robot Mechanic. If you honestly think the future is university-educated professionals swapping servos and battery packs you're fucking retarded. They'd get a technician to do all the piddly crap the engineers can't be bothered to do. I ask you, does your local car mechanic employ PhD's in mechanical engineering? No, they don't require engineers for repairs and maintenance. Robots will be the same way.

Now, keep in mind I haven't given money to anyone and I'm just here to gather opinions. Please try not to be too angry in your replies.
