Me and my colleague are trying to find an old report about some dire wolf remains. I recall hearing about it some years ago, and had forgotten about it until recently someone mentioned it and I asked them where they heard it from, but unfortunately they couldn't remember where exactly, just that it was from some kind of magazine "over a decade ago".
I'm trying to find it again, but have been unable to so far. It was about a dire wolf that seemed unusually solitary. His remains were found in a tar pit, and while there were reportedly other remains in there, this one in particular caught the most attention due it's apparent solitude. Namely, his remains were reportedly deeper in and a different age compared to it's counterparts, possibly being a bit older. They noted fractured bones that healed incorrectly, and apparently this animal was a bit larger than average. All this hinting towards that it was hunting solo cause the added size and injuries indicate towards hunting prey alone which caused real harm to it. He must've been separated from his pack somehow, and had to live alone for a long time. Eventually he stumbled into a tar pit and fell in, where he met his end.
If anybody could tell me more info about where I could find this report again, it would be much appreciated.
