>MONTH-DAY-YEAR
>YEAR-MONTH-DAY
Which of these is more natural?
The obvious answer is that the most-to-least-significant notation of YEAR-MONTH-DAY seems the most natural... or is it?
If YEAR-MONTH-DAY is logically superior to MONTH-DAY-YEAR, then why doesn't it *feel* logically superior? Sure the YEAR-MONTH-DAY might *look* more natural, I think so, but dude there's just fucking no way, but why the heck not? Why isn't it so? Why doesn't YEAR-MONTH-DAY *feel* more natural?
I know you might be thinking:
>"The feeling is an illusion -- you grew up immersed in MONTH-DAY-YEAR so it feels a lot more comfortable than YEAR-MONTH-DAY".
No way. It isn't a "I'm used to the old ways"-feeling or a "I just like it better"-feeling. It is a subtle "this works better"-feeling. Also I haven't encountered this discomfort when confronting any other conventions or systems, I've always switched to a new system once I've seen that it works better.
