Could the question of reaching light speed be negated, by converting the object you wanted to travel that fast, into light? Shoot the object like the light from a laser pointer.
I suppose the issue then becomes, being able to convert the object to, and from light.
Have there ever been any instances of matter being turned into light particles?

Second question, if objects are simply tightly packed molecules, could we manufacture a vibrational Canon of some sort? Set it to a certain vibrational frequency, and all of the tightly packed molecules simply, shake apart?
Point it at a table, or a person and (calibrated correctly) you could essentially unravel the matter that holds them together.
