I remember learning about the moldy bread penicillin shit and how it's discovery helped eliminate polio; not a vaccine.

Doing some research I cannot find a link between the two. Polio's wikiped mentions antibiotics is a treatment that stops the disease from attacking the muscles, but is not a ’cure’. They do not call out any antibiotic by name.

Looking at penicillin's wikiped it doesn't mention polio, and that the only major disease it was used on is gonorrea (were people really buttfucking that much in the 1940s?)

Am I missremembering? Mandela effect? Memory hole?
