This took me about 2 hrs to find a solution to when I first came across it and I invite you to find a solution quicker than I
Work by yourself or work with fellow /sci/tards
I will be impressed if any solution is found, never mind one done solo

Mark rectangle with points (0,4),(0,9),(8,4),(4,8). Mark triangle with points (0,4),(1,4),(0,9). Assume triangle of same size and area for (8,9),(8,4) and (7,4). Triangle base size ~1, triangle height ~5. Triangle areas 5/2. Rectangle is 8x5 so area of ~40. Take away 5 from area & area is ~ 35. Tangent of ellipse curve not taken into consideration.

Here is how I tried the EASY question

>find Exp2, Exp3 intersection
Let
Exp2 = Exp3
Rearrange for x
=X1

>find Exp2, Exp4 intersection
Let
Exp2 = Exp4
Rearrange for x
=X2

>Find area under bottom left curve
Integrate Exp1 with limits (X2) -> (X1)
=C1

>Find area of rectangle with vertices (0,4),(0,0),((X1),4),((X1),0)
=R1

>Find area of rectangle with vertices (0,4),((X2),4),((X1),9),((X1),9)
=R2

>Find area under bottom left curve for Y >= 4
C1 - R1
= (CA)

>Find area of section A
R2 - 2(CA)

I couldn't solve for the HARD question. I don't often work with 3 axis for problems this complex

Easy:
>move your axis by (4,4) to simplify the expression
>rotate by pi/2 clockwise
>integrate from 0 to 5
>multiply by 2

Hard: Idk, just rotate the shit from above along the x-axis?

Disclaimer: Whatever you end up with after the transformations may be stupidly difficult to integrate, though. I didn't check.

Integrate both functions and find the difference of the two integrals.

Transpose so that the center is on the y-axis, take the blue function and solve for x in terms of y, assuming $x\ge0$ because you only need the right half of the function. Revolve it around the y-axis with $\int _4^9\pi f\left(y\right)^2dy\:$ .

The integrals themselves would be annoying, but I don't think that's too hard, only took me 20 mins or so. I might have made a mistake though.

To add to this, with this method for easy I get $40\pi$ , and for hard I get $\frac{1028\pi }{15}$

Nah made this in paint for myself. It was originally a way for me to calculate the volume of a plant pot (with roughly similar dimensions) which me and my friends tried for a challenge

I think you misread the easy, but just multiplying the integral from hard by 2 instead of revolving it around the axis would work
