Imagine if we thought up a logical accounting system which was consistent with those numbers which you say are the real ones, allowing is to manipulate expressions. It may have intermediate results and components that are not physical, but always giving us results which are consistent with what we know about the numbers which do exist. Do you think that would be helpful?
