Seems like the goods and services that could be automated or outsourced got cheaper, while those that had to be produced domestically got more expensive. What may have ended 70s inflation could be globalization and offshoring. Now that we're decoupling from Chinese manufacturing, and facing new resource constraints from their increased demand, we could be entering another era of stagflation.
