He had Francis Collins, the head of the National Institutes of Health, on recently and couldn't stop sucking that guy's dick even though the NIH head was treating Lex like a media moron. At one point Lex brought up the subject of Gain-of-Function research. NIH Director Collins said his eyeglasses were an example of GoF research so there was no issue. Lex, being the moron he is, went along with that and let the propagandist get away with dodging the GoF issue. Even a meathead like Joe Rogan (who Lex worships and wants to be) wouldn't have let that one slide.

He isn't, he is just very fucking americanized. His dad on the other hand grew up doing real shit, surviving in harsh conditions and hanging around MIPT while it was a place where Legends were made. Lex is a person who developed in a way that made him believe doing 10000 pushups is a challenge, while Alexander grew up in a place where the way to go was to seduce women and read all 10 books by Landau and Lifschitz and understand all the contents and pass their exam. You can't live life like Alex did in the conditions Alex was and not become based as the result.

He is literally the perfect person to listen to when you are extremely hungover and it feels like your bed is a sailboat. Soothing, but stimulating enough to keep your mind off the dry heaving. If his questions were more complicated and if the conversations were more fast-paced/involved, then the podcast would make me feel even more sick when hungover and I would never listen to it.

And, for the record, I never listen to dumbasses like Joe Rogan at all because he's way too high all the time to ever really be interesting. At least Lex isn't a drug addict and his conversations tend to stay more serious instead of going into "duuuuude what if like we're all connected" territory

Seems less like drug induced stupidity and more like ego induced stupidity to be honest though, and I just hear too much of the former nowadays to the point that it pisses me off more than the latter. Lex's interests in "love" and "aliens" and "intelligence" seem harmless and are even endearing when they're not annoying. I'm also from California and I grew up with approximately 10 million retards that sound just like Joe Rogan so he gets to me more, I guess.

Yeah no shit, but he's still a different person. In a lot of ways, I think his Rogan envy does him well. Rogan just seems like he doesn't give a shit but Lex genuinely seems like he's trying to be interested, topics/questions aside. I would rather a conversation about aliens and "love" than that sort of ties in to the guests' research than some totally random tangent. One thing I'll give Lex credit for is that his dick sucking makes his guests feel very relaxed and they give some really interesting thoughts on things sometimes. This also causes some situations like the NIH director episode where he just doesn't really question anything the guy has to say and lets him regurgitate what you'd hear in a news article for two hours, but I really enjoyed some of his podcasts with astronomers and physicists who probably aren't as used to publicity

You can't process information that much faster than you would normally(you can vastly improve your memorization skills, but thats another story), but you can optimize and abstract away, build up a characteristic set of examples and patterns to brew in your head passively and interact and match against each other and builds up in you a work ethic and knowledge of how your brain and body operates and how to adjust those to suit your needs. There is a reason why an average joe with a high IQ is inferior to the same joe, but who has been subjected to modern mathematics and a variety of disciplines here and there. There is a reason why a rando cant walk up and solve fermats last theorem, no matter how fucking high his iq is.
Lex is not dumb, he is just afflicted by brain parasites and ignorance. His father was not that way.

Lex is that guy who you dreaded getting assigned with for group projects. He produced nothing useful and wasted the group's time with irrelevant tangents.
