How do we know images of very distant objects in space are actually accurate? If I'm not mistaken, a lot of images shared for example from NASA arent the raw data that was captured, but a refined and edited image based on that data. What image processing methods are employed in creating these depictions? How do we maintain the integrity of the data? How do we manage to ensure that we arent simply creating a fantasy?
