It's a fairly known phenomenon that when one half of an old couple dies, the other one follows soon after. My grandparents were married for 75 years. When my grandmother died, my grandfather died only a couple months later after taking care of her for a while, which is remarkable considering they both lived into their 90s. I even remember my dad mentioning this beforehand after the first death, that the elderly often die in quick succession like this, he already knew to expect it

Now my question is, how much can psychology affect a person's life expectancy? I understand that a person feels extremely down after their spouse dies, but it's like some life force just leaves their body after they see their other half die, and their body just gives up as well like yeah I'm done with this as well. And if someone is is totally happy with their life, they just keep living
