Why do people assume that crossing the event horizon means being enveloped in darkness?
Shouldn't an observer be met with a blinding light? As all the light that travels into the black hole becomes compressed into a smaller volume.
It would be like a room's lights getting dimmer before all of a sudden being brought back up to full brightness.
