I feel like my brain is just completely not registering what i am seeing like coding requires at least 20 intelligence points to use and i have 7 i keep looking at it and i dont understand what i am seeing.

Dude coding Is not something you can just "get into", despite all the trivialisation and Infantilization by the capitalists and their advertisers, yeah it is kind of a new language that "anyone can just learn", but that doesn't mean you can understand what actually you are doing.

You need to study physics, math and finally Computer engineering to actually understand what's going on, only then you can become a good Software Engineer.

Muh computer science degree is fake meme invented to flood the job market with all sorts of low grade midwit retards to suppress wages, they even use smears like code monkey to further humiliate the engineers.

You want to be a good programmer? Study mathematics, physics or statistics.

I dont have to go get a job im living with my mom and she pays the bills.
Im trying to but i barely passed middleschool math because i didnt show up to class like half of the time so its hard because i need to learn both middleschool better and start learning highschool stuff too.

Download a programming book and a compiler and start programming in C. When you do an error, check what the compiler complains about. You will have to search the net a lot for answers. Programming like any other skillset is something that you learn by doing

Stop trying to understand everything and just build. Have a goal, break it into tiny pieces, find answers online. Nobody has understood programming until after they've built several projects.

I've trained people from out of college and they were woefully underprepared minus a few good habits, so I generally caution against it, although I wouldn't say people usually regret it.

Best habits is using keyboard shortcuts, keeping functions small, with few parameters, and long descriptive names. Use libraries to solve problems whenever a library to solve the problem exists, unless you have a good reason not to.

Programming is 99% logic and syntax. Advanced math is only involved when the problem domain involves math. Even then, it's usually easy to use built in functions or libraries can do most of the heavy lifting as long as you understand the problem itself.

coding doesn't require big IQ, but there are different levels of coding as in any profession.

there are your webdevs literally toilet cleaning of programming.

there are software developers that use a language like C#, Java, swift or Go or whatever shit is trending.

there are systems programmers mostly use C and maybe some C++ and occasionally assembly.

there are hacker minded people, not particularly good at "software engineering" but very able people and come up with some new stuff.

there are some lone wolfs that make huge contributions like carmack or bellard.

and then there are the great masters like ken thompson, dijkstra, hoare, knuth and so on.

so it's a huge spectrum, and you can't just cover it by simply saying coding. anyone with a 100+ IQ can be a decent software developer with some discipline.

As someone in the industry, Imma say this is one of those BS things. You don't need to know metallurgy to use a hammer to build a house. You can be a very good software engineer and not know physics or be very good at math (that's up to debate about what you think being good at math is, of course).

Its a language, which means learning the words and concepts are useless alone. You have to speak it (as awkward as that sounds). That means find a project you want to complete and then try to build it. Hit a wall (uhhh how do I do the very first step?) and google it. Find some answers on stack overflow. Copy it. play around with it. Break it. The wonderful thing about coding is you can make all the changes and mistakes you want and no one dies in real life (obviously talking about learning, not professional settings here). I know python really damn well, I use it for ML. I looked at some well-rated beginner books recently to help recommend them to a friend who wanted to learn and my eyes went cross. Learning what a variable is, what a variable type is, for loops, functions, classes, are all horrifyingly taught as standalone buildups to your eventual first project in most books. I hate that style. You learn through intuition how a variable functions by trying to use it in a project. You first build your sphagetti code single script with repeating-code calls everywhere, then you sit back, digest, and wrap the repeated code parts into a function.
Go build some random shit. NO USER INTERFACE STUFF. Not yet. Think of something you can call command lines for. Think of things you have to do constantly, like open an excel file and do a bunch of shit for work or something. Automate tasks for work. Start there.

This really depends on what you want to do,

If you want to be one of those clerical coders, or web devs or whatever then you don't need to do much.

But if you want to become a top lever software engineer, work on big projects, or on research, then you have to be well educated, you need to study proper engineering and need a lot of experience.

There are multiple levels of expertise in any industry.

The industry is hurting BAD for talent. We literally can't find people who can code, and biotech is still growing incredibly fast. We have had a position open for several months, and another position just opened, where we offer a large amount of money, and we can't find anyone. And its not just us. We're down to trying to recruit from undergrad 6 months before they graduate in hopes of getting them before they get swooped up by another company.
My degree has absolutely nothing to do with computer science, but now I'm the senior software dev after 2 years because I can code. They hired me after I wrote a script for them that took me 3 days, they thought it would take a month.
If you can actually code, you are absolutely in demand and can get placed anywhere.
Want to know a secret? Fuck FAANG. Most CS degree holders lament how difficult it is to get into FAANG, but there are a million open positions that pay 80-1120% of FAANG jobs and require half the work, and you can generally work remote. I mean it when I say the industry (forgot to mention I'm in biotech/drug discovery) is absolutely hurting for talent. FAANG is for wageslaves who want a tesla. biotech is for people who want to make more income/debt than all of silicon valley (I calculated it; I live in the south and my income/debt is higher than the upper-quarter payed in silicon valley) and I work like 4 hours a day.

honestly pretty far outside my field. Finance to me has always been a "field" akin to astrology. You can certainly improve your chances for the coin-flip to be in your favor, but it's almost as much luck as it is skill from my limited understanding. Money gets thrown around a lot so people think there MUST be something to it, but that's a bit of a fallacy.
They do get paid disgustingly good amounts of money. Personally, finance/economic theories don't excite me, so I never went that route.
