there are your webdevs literally toilet cleaning of programming.
there are software developers that use a language like C#, Java, swift or Go or whatever shit is trending.
there are systems programmers mostly use C and maybe some C++ and occasionally assembly.
there are hacker minded people, not particularly good at "software engineering" but very able people and come up with some new stuff.
there are some lone wolfs that make huge contributions like carmack or bellard.
and then there are the great masters like ken thompson, dijkstra, hoare, knuth and so on.
so it's a huge spectrum, and you can't just cover it by simply saying coding. anyone with a 100+ IQ can be a decent software developer with some discipline.
