Few people realise it but this might actually be the great filter.
One of the main cause is unbridled aimless capitalism without regards to anything, politicians have no sense, they have no vision or plan. They don't believe in anything, they don't want to do anything, the corrupt, exploitative and largely wasteful system keeps running, but this won't last for long, it's already coming to an end. Everyone just drank the nihilistic hedonism koolaid, this has caused nothing but death and destruction on this planet.
After this civilisation collapses, there is little hope for revival like it happened before, because the modern man isn't capable of surviving out of the artificial environment created by the industrial revolution.
