Should I my degree in chemistry or stick with computer science? Is the degree viable for a career in today's society?

Go with your gut my friend, just be honest with yourself and judge if you can be without it in a totally different career, or if not and you're geared towards science then see if you can be okay with biochem or chem engineering instead. If even those dont light the flame of passion in you enough then you have your answer, you love chemistry that much and you have to be the top level student in everything to be the one who can suceed despite the odds. If the numbers are enough to put you off then consider something in the middle ground with numbers that are a bit more to your liking like chem engineering or biochem and later in life maybe use the degree anyway to pivot into a chemist job. Just dont stress yourself into doing something completely off base from your actual interests you have no idea how easy it is to do that. Pick a goal even if you arent 100% and just do your work. "Love and work"

this is what every faggot suburbanite with a mild interest in science asks, you're not going to finish a degree in chemistry, you'll get bored of the labs and end up going cs like everyone else, save yourself the time/money and focus on cs

Don't do it OP. Unless you stick purely to computational aspects and go into data science or bioinformatics afterwards anyway it's a terrible career choice.
You can learn to like any task you're good at, don't go into something just because it's the most interesting to you. The passion hypothesis is a false idol.

For the record I'm currently doing research using bioinformatics and computational structural biology purely so that I can get the qualifications to move into that field.

On the otherhand if you don't mind things like regulatory affairs or management you could go into that from a chem degree but I hate that stuff.

Had the same dilemma. There's no point focusing on a marketable skill when it makes you want to blow head off. Now I'm enjoying £30k in biotech rather than 60k and depressed in cs.
