That's somewhat shady response kind of bothers me. Natural immunity may not be obtained if you catch the virus because sometimes your body doesn't even need to do that, so your long term immunity doesn't get triggered. When it does though, that's a different story and a different response too.

It's rather difficult to believe this, honestly. The vaccines produce spike proteins only. How does it make sense that spike proteins from the alpha variant can cause stronger immunity than your body actually dealing with the entire virus?

Because the respons can be weaker due to a number of factors. Some vaccines (conjugate vaccines) use 2 different antigens to create a stronger response for what would normally create a weak response.
