>>13817303>> why would we need to get human faces right to such precision Well even in modern times it's basically life and death reading people right, probably the uncanny valley is triggered probably like as
>>13817317 said, it's a mixture between an unreadable and possibly threatening face/lying hiding dangerous intentions and those features taken into their maximally impacting zones.. we are talking about artificial faces here usually so this is perfectly possible. Also as another anon says, the really immobile faces on robots and such are reminiscent of corpses or diseased individuals, and we fear the unknown/death. Jordan Peterson talks about why we have such large schelera (hites of the eyes), it's so other people can tell what we are looking at, whcih helps us cooperate, communicate non verbally and coordinate to get things done, and also improves trust.. all of our ancestors which had smaller schelera either died through lack of cooperation,, were killed outright or failed to reproduce.. anyway usual explanations of uncanny valley are accurate, theres a line of realism where our brains switch gears from seeing a cartoon face as an abstraction/conceptual/representational to being an actual face and if it's "off" at that point it freaks us out, because we cant process it therefore it could be anything and that's the unknown and the unknown has the possibility of death.
