The measurement of the rate of change needs two points. You can't have one point and measure the rate of change. That doesn't even make sense. wtf?

There are two points, the distance between them is infinitely small. 1/infinity is not actually zero. Imagine you break a stick in half, and you break one half in half, etc. Ad infinitum you'd still have a stick. It approaches zero, but never is zero. This is the difference between the two points.

It is. Remember that you take the LIMIT as x goes to 0; it doesn't mean it equals 0. A tangent actually contains 2 point. 2 contiguous points, but not 1. In fact it doesn't make sense to say it just touches 1 point, otherwise you could draw an infinite number of lines
