The reason you shouldn't expect to beat the stock market is because of all the other market actors who will pounce on any discernible pattern in stock prices and arbitrage it away. Climate isn't like that.

Maybe it would be less retarded if he asked them to predict overall movement of the stock market, inflation, or some other macroeconomic thingy.
