>>13815848This is because of a very different mindset between leftists and everyone else. To a leftist, the problem is that people use too much and that some use so much more than others. They want to reduce consumption back to where it was hundreds of years ago. Preferably with an economic revolution a la Marx. These are the traditional environmental activists (e.g. Greenpeace) and have a bigger foothold in government.
To everyone else, climate change is primarily caused by throwing up too much green house gasses, and the solution is relatively simple: Stop emitting so much by moving to non-carbon power production and capture/re-use (and possibly store) existing carbon in the atmosphere. To these people, nuclear (and to a lesser extent solar) is a way to exert control over nature and decouple humanity from it.
