Are we still living in a world of WW2 technology? Or is the mass production of plastics a post-WW2 phenomenon? It seems that everything, from computers to space programs, goes back to WW2. Whether it's tech being created due to the war or taken from the Germans after their defeat. It feels that only recently have things began to evolve beyond just iterating these ideas gained from the war, with things like material science and computer science (not just creating apps but using CS to develop fields that couldn't be developed previously) leading the way.
