It seems like a lot of the hostility from /o/ types comes from the loss of control that shade tree mechanics have over teslas, priuses, anything that is loaded with black boxes and abstract digital control systems.

Fundamentally, an electric drivetrain doesn't need to be more complex than a flashlight or electric drill. If users are prepared to sacrifice optimal battery management, would it be possible to make an ultra basic electric drivetrain?

I'm thinking like 1950s soviet drill levels of durability and simplicity
