Sardines are a fatty fish on similar nutritional standing as trout and salmon. In fact, they're superior, because they (1) are eaten whole, (2) aren't farmed, (3) don't accumulate heavy metals (which is kind of a meme btw), and (4) you can stack 'em for a dark day just like gold and silver.
Also I'm in France, in the region where canned sardines were invented. I buy local historic brands that are to this day processed by hand. It's more expensive than cheapest shit but it's way better.
