Obviously there are a lot of dumb boomers, conspiracy theorists, and Qanon types out there, so I understand that there is a lot of genuine support for conspiracy theories and anti-vax sentiment in the US and EU, but do you think that a lot of what we are seeing could also be an intentional disinformation campaign by hostile foreign nations like Russia and Iran?
If you look at alt-media sites like 4chan, all of the anti-vax rhetoric seems very inorganic, and a lot of anti-vax voices have popped up out of nowhere with millions of followers. In other cases, people that were already famous but had no prior interest in anti-vax all of a sudden started spewing anti-vax talking points. Jimmy Dore is one example of this, and we know he is sympathetic to Putin and Russia. Robert Malone is another good example. It just seems completely inorganic. Do you think that what we're are seeing is just another example of Russian/Iranian/etc. disinformation? Or is it just a mixture of schizo boomers being led on by quacks, and social media algorithms designed to push right wing conspiracies and controversial news stories in order to generate clicks and engagement?
