I would rather replace my brain one cell at a time with nono bots that way it maybe may still be me and not just a copy. Your brain does replace its cells slowly every 5-7 years without killing you so we know it's possible.

All brain cells are replacable. Neuroregeneration can replace all brain cells, and you could use that processes coupled with neurogenesis to replace all brain cells with artifical ones.

Copy? No, but you could in the coming centuries hook up your brain with a computer and gradually replace your brain cells with artifical ones or even virtual ones until the substrate-change has been completed.

But people aren't just consciousness. If we sleep, we lose consciousness and have no access to memory. So we don't say the person that woke up after the sleep is a different person.

You don`t replace the brain cells but their function. You grow external vritual neurons that interact with your natural or cybernetic ones. From that, we develop a method to delet natural ones so that virtual ones can take over their function and do it so gradually until all of your natural ones are replaced. For such a virtual gradual replacement you need a far greater understanding of the brain/mind that we have now.

Life extension tech might become viable in the coming decades, which means that your prediction might become true. It won't be cheap, it will be unfair and the road is not safe but with a clear mind, support for universal healthcare and scientific endavours the negative effects and consequences might be minimized. I don't think that gradual uploading will be a technology of this century but I' m certain it will be one of the 22th century.
